According to Harold Camping the President of Family Radio and a preacher in California, the World comes to an end today the 21st of May 2011. I do not believe this is true and before his followers brand me a doubting Thomas, I quote the word that contradicts his prediction.
He is right the signs of the End Times are all around us. Jesus said, “…Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.” Luke 21:10-11. Just look at this chronology of MAJOR earthquakes (excludes 100’s of powerful earthquakes with smaller fatalities) over the last twenty years: Also in In Matthew 24:7, Jesus said, “There shall be famines, and pestilences [strange diseases], and earthquakes in diverse places.”
Jesus foretold in Matthew 24:5 that “Many shall come in My name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.” Thousands, in their search for certainty, turn to cults, to false christs and false prophets who recruit many to follow them. Jesus warned in Matthew 24:24, “There shall arise false christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders.” Jesus Christ also said, “As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be before the coming of the Son of Man.” Matthew 24:37. What was it like in Noah’s day before the flood? Here’s the answer: “The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence” Genesis 6:11. “And God said to Noah, the end of all flesh is come before Me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth” Genesis 6:13.
There is a lot in the Bible about the End Times but it is also said the time and day is not known (Matthew 24:36 "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”) There are many false prophets these days, so we will only know by the end of today if Harold Camping is the Noah of today or is a false prophet.

Judiciary appointments
The live interviews of Chief Justice, Deputy Chief Justice and Director of Public Prosecutions was quiet historical in Kenya. Consequently the choices of Dr. Willy Mutunga an activist for CJ, Nancy Barasa for Deputy CJ and Keriako Tobiko as DPP was a great relief from the common names and friends of top politicians as is the norm in Kenya. The tribal choices and balance was also a good move after the war between PNU (Presidents party) and ODM (Prime Ministers party) over -the previous nominations.
This is the way forward for reforms in Kenya; let those opposed to the appointments stops taking us back because we want to move on, even the President and the Prime Minister approved the appointments “Who do they think they are?” This is the trend set, therefore all major Government jobs should be advertised and go through the same process.

Museveni violating Besigye’s rights
I just don’t have the right words to describe this Ugandan leader. In this time and age of democratization of the World, it is very sad for a country to be lead by such a Stone Age leader. After forcefully taking over Uganda in 1986 and making it stable, the most prudent thing for him was to make the country democratic, but what he’s been doing now is taking back Uganda our beloved neighbor into what it used to be in the days of Iddi Amin. The events that have taken place in Uganda this past week are not pleasant at all; it’s disgusting to see Museveni forces treating Besigye the opposition leader like an alien in his own country. What is wrong if Besigye decides to walk to work and other citizens join him? Why arrest a citizen who decides to use his legs instead of wheels to get to work? If it is wrong then it means there is no freedom of movement in Uganda. Besigye is in Kenya for specialized treatment, he is scared Museveni could be trying to kill him. Coincidentally Museveni was also in Kenya attending a function last week, he says Besigye should have informed the police that he will be walking to work, what a shameful statement.
That is sad for a country were there is no freedom of expression and now they get shot for walking to work. What a pity, this is the time I can proudly say “Najivunia Kua Mkenya” (which means I am proud to be Kenyan). At least we have freedom of movement, expression and though I cannot say our Government is very democratic, at least our President cannot be compared to some dictators in African like Museveni. We feel it in Kenya because our people are also detained in Uganda as suspected terrorists as well as a Muslim rights activist. I do not support terrorism but the law says everyone is innocent until proven guilty. Yes they could have been terrorists but why lock up the Muslim rights activist Al-Amin Kimathi, who went to Uganda to check on their case, what crime has he done.
I say pole sana to our brothers and sisters in Uganda but to Museveni, no one knew Mubarak would be forced to step down, Gbagbo would be smoked out of his bunker, Gadafi would be holed up in his Palace, Osama would be killed. His day is coming.

High Cost of Living in Kenya
The move by Government to remove excise duty on basic commodities like kerosene, maize, wheat and cutting fuel prices is much welcome. However there is still very little impact on the prices in the shops. Kenyans are mostly affected by the cost of our main food Maize meal (Unga); just two month ago Unga was Kshs65 now its Kshs100 this is a very big margin compared to most people’s income. Public transport has also become a big burden to Kenyans, it seems like this sector is not controlled by the Government. They have hiked fares due to rising fuel prices but the problem is the fares are not constant; they keep raising the fares as they please making life more miserable for Kenyans. The Government should stop these PSVs from exploiting Kenyans.
Workers left Uhuru Park (the venue for Labor Day celebrations) disappointed by the offer from the Government. I knew they could not give a 60% salary increment as COTU Chairman had demanded. COTU Chairman Atwoli and Lawyer Muite expressed their disappointment at Senior Government officials especially the two Principals for not attending the function. As usual Atwoli gave a strong speech condemning the Government and threatening mass action if the Government does not go by their wish. I just thought he’s lucky to be a Kenyan, if he was in the land of Kaguta Museveni he would be roughed up immediately and jailed without trial.
Lack of adequate rain this season is also a major set back to Kenyans and we just hope for a miracle.
